The In-Depth Look:

From the press release: “Dishie is a worsted weight yarn that is highly absorbent and durable, making it ideal for home decor projects. It’s also a great choice for garments and accessories. It comes in 15 different colors and is priced at $3.99/100 grams.”

Sturdy cotton isn’t one of my favorite yarns, but this is a great example of a nice, basic yarn for when you want to knit something that can stand up to abuse. Nice yarn, good colors, and durable. What more could you want from a yarn called Dishie?

Yarn: WOOL OF THE ANDES TWEED
Company: Knitpicks
Type: Tweed worsted
Fiber: 80% Peruvian Highland Wool, 20% Donegal Tweed
Yardage: 110 yards
Weight: 50 grams
Gauge: 4.5 – 5 sts = 1″ on 6-9 needles
Care: Hand wash, dry flat

The In-Depth Look:

From the press release: “Wool of the Andes Tweed combines our classic worsted weight Peruvian Highland wool with earthy-colored flecks of Donegal tweed to add a sophisticated and traditional appeal to everything from sweaters and outerwear, to hats and mitts. ‘We wanted to add a more affordable Tweed option to our product line, while maintaining the quality of the yarn. By bringing the Tweed into the Wool of the Andes line, we have developed a yarn that is not only going to hold up over the years, but will look absolutely beautiful every time you put it on.’ The heathered colors offer great depth and the small flecks of neps add just the right amount of texture.”

One of the things that always surprises me about the Wool of the Andes yarns is how soft it is, and this is a very touchable wool that looks like it will knit up beautifully–and I do love tweed-colors in my yarns!

These skeins was kindly donated by Knitpicks. Thank you!

My Gush: Two very different but very nice yarns.
